A New Approach to a Performance Cruising Yacht |
The Island Pilot Design Team started working on a larger Island Pilot soon after the original Island Pilot 395s were launched. Early parameters were to maintain the speed, efficiency and style while creating larger, more luxurious spaces with two really good, private staterooms. The only way to accomplish this was either an aft-cabin yacht (not in keeping with the Island Pilot styling), or some other way to separate the two sleeping quarters.

Key features of the Island Pilot 435 have been retained while others have been up-sized:
2. Galley forward of the lower helm, open to the sky under the windscreen. 3. Dinette in the galley making this full-width space the “Great Room.” 4. Luxurious VIP with a “true” queen-island berth and ensuite head and shower.
6. Walk-in engine room aft with plenty of room to access all sides of the diesels. 7. “Basement” under the galley for all the other machinery not engine related. 8. Aft cockpit with built-in 9 foot U-shaped settee, consoles to house a grill and ice maker and stairs to the bridge and to the swim platform.
10. Standard outfitting that Island Pilot is famous for: from the 4 each Garmin 15” GPSMAP touchscreens to the KVH 7HD DirecTV satellite dish and LED HDTVs to the 11’6” Mercury Marine Amanzi 350 dinghy with 40 HP 4-stroke motor and full-function hydraulic crane, to the stacking washer & dryer in the laundry. |

The final result: insert a “Great Room” between the VIP guest stateroom in the bow and the full-width master amidships, under the deck house. Add the brand new Volvo IPS II 900 drive train, and the result was a motor yacht 53’6” on deck by 16’9” wide.
1. Sizable deck house with 360 degree visibility.
5. Over-the-Top, full-width master with a love seat, big closets and dressers plus a dressing table/desk and double vanity head with sunken shower.

An entertainment-style bridge with U-shaped settee and table, console for wet-bar and refrigerator and three helm chairs.The Island Pilot 535 gives new meaning to the term, “Island Hopping!” You can cruise to the Caribbean at 8 knots, safely, economically and comfortably, then “hop” island to island at 25 - 30 knots. What other liveaboard cruiser can do this?
